Tiffany Haddish IS the Last Black Unicorn

If you guys don’t know who Tiffany Haddish, well… why the hell not?! I have such a huge human crush on her because this chick is the real deal. Her childhood was rough -like abused by her mother after her mom got into a car accident, assaulted by a grandpa after she went into the foster care system, was in an abusive relationship kind of rough. Yet she’s grown into an optimistic, confident, loving person.

Sit down and let me lead you on the path of falling in love with Tiffany Haddish.

How I Found Out About Tiffany Haddish

I went to Hubspot’s Inbound Conference in 2017 and she was one of the entertainment acts. She was the second act after Judd Apatow, and she killed it. One thing that she learned early in her comedy career is that if she isn’t having fun, then the audience isn’t going to have fun, so she always has fun onstage. Check out some clips of her act in the video below:

A Little Bit About Tiffany Haddish

She is a female comedian and actress, born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She’s had a really rough upbringing, which you can and should read about in her book, The Last Black Unicorn. Bonus points if you get the Audible version because she narrates her own story and it just makes the story even more personable.

Girls Trip

One of the best comedy movies ever. EVER. You have well-known actresses like Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, and Jada Pinkett Smith, yet Tiffany steals the freakin’ show.

In that video clip above, Tiffany was talking about what she really wanted to say in a scene for Girls Trip. I want to know how she comes up with these crazy ideas because she’s got a ton of them. And yes, some of them are extreme, but the girl has been through a lot of shit in her life, so for her to still be able to recognize that she’s got crazy ideas and not act on all of them? Kudos, Tiffany.

She Ready! Her Stand-Up Comedy Show

After my friend Enya finished reading her book, I was wondering whether Tiffany was touring. Fortunately, she was on the East Coast that coming weekend. The Boston show was sold out, so I asked Enya whether she’d be down to go to Connecticut to see her show.

Her exact words were, “Yes anything for Tiffany”.

What makes Tiffany so lovable is that she is herself no matter where she goes or who she’s with. When you watch comedy specials, comedians usually have a set that they go through and don’t really deviate from it or interact with the audience. Not Tiffany.

She did a couple of jokes that were in her catalog, but for the most part she went with the flow. She told us about what was going through her head, about the person who bit Beyonce (she didn’t drop any names though), and her father. She interacted with the audience a lot, and every single interaction somehow was a reminder to a funny story. I’m sitting there thinking, “How does she do this?!”

Tiffany Haddish is beautiful inside and out. She’s got such a good soul and that’s why she radiates so much. It’s so hard to describe what she is like when you see her show in person, so here’s just a list of my favorite Tiffany Haddish videos:

There’s Never Enough Tiffany:

  1. (Video) Tiffany’s interview with Trevor Noah
  2. (Video) Tiffany’s interview with Stephen Colbert
  3. (Video) Tiffany’s interview with Jimmy Kimmel
  4. This video with Kevin Hart
  5. (Video) Tiffany Haddish Shared Her Best Dating Advice for Men
  6. (Video) Tiffany Haddish on Jimmy Fallon

I love how at some point in the interview, these TV show hosts realize that they cannot control this interview cause it’s Tiffany. They aren’t mad either because it’s Tiffany and she emits this ray of sunshine and love. Just watch Stephen Colbert fall in love with Tiffany! I wish I were Stephen Colbert so I could just soak in her energy.

Anyways, that’s my Women Crush Wednesday! #wcw
