Latest in Podcasts (Feb 2019)

I am a podcast junkie. I usually listen to 1-2 podcasts in the morning as I am waking up, and more when I drive anywhere. I have been collecting a lot of podcast episodes, and I want to share them with you. Categorized in many different ways, I have a lot of options, so don’t be worried there isn’t one for you!

If you are looking for a vibe like “Humans of New York”…

“The Alpha Wolf: Elizabeth Gilbert” – The Moth

Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love, shares her struggle in dealing with her partner’s terminal illness and what it taught her about living.

“Bye-Bye New York: Emad Kiyaei” – The Moth

Emad shares his complicated relationship with America.

If you meditate or want to start…

“120: Mantras in Motion with Erin Stutland” – Pivot

In January, Annie and I started meditation. Ever since then, I’ve been trying to find a version of meditation that works for me. After listening to this episode with Erin Stutland, I started searching for mantras that spoke to me. It’s still a work in progress, but I did get the Audible version of the book Mantras in Motion, which shows how much I enjoyed Erin because I am not one to buy self-help books.

This person’s life story is so crazy, it’s unbelievable…

“EXPERTS ON EXPERTS: Scott Harrison” – Armchair Expert

Scott Harrison used to be a nightclub promoter and became the founder of charity:water. This is one of the craziest life stories I have ever heard. How does one go through seeing all the vices that New York City has to offer to radically transforming the charity model and bringing clean water to over 9.5 million people in 27 countries? Let him tell you.

If you appreciate delicious cocktails…

“Mixology” – Ologies

This was my first time hearing the job title “bar chef”, and that’s what Matthew Biancaniello is. I loved this episode because it was a good balance of learning who Matthew is and also learning about drinks. After listening, I definitely started following him on Instagram and I definitely want to check his place out next time I’m back in Los Angeles!

I was surprised about this OG fashion blogger’s humble beginnings…

“Aimee Song: Fashion Blogger, Influencer” – Second Life

Aimee Song is one of my favorite fashion blogger and influencers out there. She was one of the first people in her industry to talk about anxiety and mental health on YouTube, and it helped me so much because I felt seen. I didn’t know her entire backstory, but hearing it made me like her so much more. THAT HUSTLIN’ ATTITUDE MENTALITY THO.

If you enjoy podcasts like Serial or shows like Law & Order: SVU

I love listening or watching anything related to a criminal justice system. A lot of it pisses me off though because it’s crazy to find out how demented the human mind can be, or how some police officers are a**holes but act righteous. The reporting of this podcast is phenomenal and host Saki Knafo’s voice is very alluring.

If you feel like you’re in a rut, this could shift your mindset…

The biggest personal growth I have experienced so far is when I went from caring what other people think and competing against them to focusing on myself and changing into an abundance mindset. I slip back from time to time because it’s human nature to compete against each other – in the olden days, that’s how you survived against another tribe. This episode set my mind back again, and I think everybody should listen to this one.

If you want to hear about one woman’s crazy pregnancy story…

“Episode 32: What They Don’t Tell You About Giving Birth” – Asian Boss Girl

Over the last couple of months, I’ve been really fascinated into hearing about every woman’s pregnancy story. No two pregnancies are the same, even if it’s one woman giving birth to two kids. In this episode, the ladies of Asian Boss Girl talk to another ABG and YouTube creator, Cathy Nguyen talked about her pregnancy story with her baby girl Isla Renee. It’s crazy.

Alright, that’s it for now. Let me know if you listen to any of these and what you thought of it!
