Deep Stretching Experiment | Challenge #004

For the month of July we decided to do a deep stretching experiment to see if we could improve our flexibility. What do you guys think happened?

Annie: Let me just start out by saying that I am the most inflexible person EVER. Stretching has always been a pretty weak point for me so I used to never stretch. Now I know the importance of stretching so I do it after my warm up at the gym and after my workout (sometimes hehe) even if I dislike it.

After starting this deep stretching experiment, I don’t think I improved my flexibility at all haha. If you look at my before and after photos, I’m pretty much still at the same level of flexibility. ): I think it is possible to become more flexible but it’ll require me to continue working on it for a longer period and be consistent. This experiment didn’t make me like stretching more. It was painful and slightly boring, but it’s probably a mindset thing that would take time to change!

Juliet: I’ve come to enjoy stretching a lot more since we started this experiment. I love a good deep stretch now – some videos that I follow are Flexibility Yoga from Blogilates, Flexibility Focus from Blogilates, and Total Body Stretch from Blogilates. Now that I think of it, a lot of the fitness YouTubers I follow don’t have many stretching videos.

Whenever I see a good stretching move from fitness classes or videos, I always include it into my stretching routine now. One day, I want to be able to do the split!
